Addressing storage issues in different storage scenarios and data formats
Provide efficient, intelligent, and reliable data management solutions
Quick retrieval and invocation of business, enabling data to unleash greater value
Background of the solution
Virtualization technology still plays an important role in enterprise private cloud IT infrastructure. At the same time, in order to further improve application efficiency, more and more production environments are gradually transforming from a virtual machine centric architecture to a cloud native architecture centered on containers and microservices. In this process, how to effectively support various cloud host applications and microservice applications in storage poses new challenges for enterprise private cloud data centers.
SandStone's private cloud scenario solution fully utilizes the native virtualization capabilities of storage products, with a wide ecological cooperation foundation, which can efficiently connect various cloud computing resources and reduce the infrastructure management and operation costs of complex private cloud data centers.
Customer Challenge
Multiple cloud platforms have different storage requirements, with block/file/object storage corresponding to different types of applications and providing different service interfaces to the outside world. One storage device cannot meet the storage needs of multiple types of cloud platforms, and traditional storage cannot meet the scalability requirements of large-scale cloud platforms in the cloud era. In terms of maintainability, it faces problems such as hardware architecture binding, complex operation and maintenance, and difficulty in maintenance, which will further amplify with the increase of storage device types and quantities.
With the launch of virtual machines, containers, and microservice platforms for development and testing on enterprise private cloud platforms, the rapid iteration and frequent release of applications in large enterprises pose a severe challenge to the support of storage systems. Data from different businesses is stored on storage devices from different vendors, resulting in poor data mobility. This not only leads to serious waste of storage space and performance resources, but also makes it difficult to unify data disaster recovery solutions.
Cloud platforms based on open source virtualization technology, such as OpenStack, provide many customers with the ability to quickly build private cloud infrastructure. However, the storage part is different. Although open source storage systems such as Ceph can be deployed and tested on a small scale, they will encounter many problems in large-scale commercial use: the degree of integration with hardware and enterprise level application ecosystems is not high, they rely heavily on manual development and operation, and cannot meet the needs of core business in terms of performance and service quality.
Our Solutions
The SandStone Private Cloud Storage Solution fully leverages the cloud adaptation and openness advantages of the SandStone Unified Storage Platform (USP), supporting various complex application workloads and flexibly supporting virtualization platforms for private clouds such as VMware, Citrix, OpenStack, as well as all container cloud platforms certified for Kubernetes software consistency, such as Rancher, Openshift, Kubernetes, etc.
Through the SandStone UUSP, users can quickly build a unified storage resource pool that is compatible with all mainstream virtualization platforms and container microservice platforms. Faced with various virtual machine and microservice requirements, the pooled storage platform provides reliable storage infrastructure support for large-scale cloud environments, helping users free themselves from the complex infrastructure operation and maintenance work and focus more on the business running on private clouds.
Customer Value
A storage resource pool supports multiple protocol interfaces such as SCSI, RBD, NFS, CIFS, FTP, etc., and supports a wide range of virtualization platforms and database applications, while meeting the storage requirements for blocks, files, and objects in cloud infrastructure and development testing scenarios.
Support multi-dimensional partitioning of storage pool resources and online migration of data across pools, empowering managers with the ability to manage the lifecycle of resources, migrate data online between different cloud platforms, achieve data sharing, and improve resource utilization.
The SandStone USP adopts a software defined architecture that supports universal server hardware. Customers can choose to avoid hardware lock-in as needed and also facilitate the reuse of existing devices.
Through VMware VAAI certification and Citrix Ready certification, it is compatible with various official versions of traditional virtualization platforms, and utilizes the open interfaces provided by virtualization platforms to optimize IO access performance, achieving vertical optimization. Compared with standard docking, it greatly improves the performance of virtual machine access to storage.
Supporting OpenStack Cinder certification, it can provide block storage infrastructure support for Cinder, Glance, and Nova, while also meeting OpenStack's requirements for object storage.
Supports CSI interface authentication for container platforms, compatible with the Kubernetes ecosystem, and can provide block and file storage resources for various stateful or stateless applications in containers.
Guided installation and deployment, as well as self-service expansion and configuration, greatly improve usability and maintainability, and automate management to reduce operation and maintenance costs.
A patented technology for reliability management, detection, and repair of hard disk software errors for large-scale cluster optimization, saving users' hardware investment.
The management function from a storage perspective visualizes the mapping relationship between hosts, containers, and storage, as well as performance monitoring to assist administrators in quickly locating and solving problems.
